Courses Offered

The Veterinary Technology Program is an Associate of Applied Science Degree Program designed to meet the need for graduate veterinary technicians as indicated by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

The curriculum covers all information, experience, and skills necessary to perform the various technical duties that veterinary technicians and technologists handle in veterinary facilities.

It has two prerequisite courses, Composition I and Biology for Science Majors I.

Requiring 5 semesters to complete, the courses featured per semester are as follows:

Semester 1 (13 credit hours):

The full program requires a minimum of 60 credit hours.

Upon successful completion, graduates may take the Texas Veterinary Medical Association Examination to become Licensed Veterinary Technicians.

The Veterinary Technology Program is an Associate of Applied Science Degree Program that addresses the knowledge and skills necessary for a career as a vet tech in animal hospitals, veterinary clinics, and animal shelters.

It covers basic animal nursing care, dental procedures, X-rays, assisting veterinarians, and more.
